Does anyone know how to re-sight the lasermax sight inside a 17 (short of paying Lasermax another 100)

  Lasermax warranties that their lasers should be aligned within 2" of point of impact at 20 yards, per factory specs in standard (ie not ported, or otherwise modified) guns.
  
  I don't think there is any easy way to change the alignment by yourself. Any work you did on the sight yourself would probably void the warranty, and I also don't think it would be a good idea to try to alter the gun.
  
  If you're sure the laser is out of alignment, I think you're going to have to send it back to Lasermax for them to work on.
