Russian? Military rifle marked QR1914
I have come into possession of a military rifle that I cannont identify. Any help would be appreciated. It appears very similar to a Mossin nagant 91/30 (straignt bolt, same type of magazine)but is not. The only markings on the barrel are "QR1914" near the breach and one *. The stock is full with a barrel band and swing swivel about a foot from the muzzle and a sling swivel about 3 inches from the heel. However, it also has a recessed sling mount on the left side of the stock about 3 inches from the butt lije the French Mas. The stock is makred on the left side near the butt "QR 1914" and ther is a "G.E." in an oval above the recessed sling mount. There is also a capital E in the recessed area of the wood just above the side sling mount. It is in pretty nice shape.

We are going to need some photos. Right off the bat I can tell you that the letter QR and G are Latin script and not found in the Cyrillic Alphabet used by the Russians. The letter E does exist in Russian Cyrillic, but the sound it represents is different than that found in our own alphabet. 0 -
Thanks Mark. I'll try to get some pictures posted. Could it be Japanese? 0 -
