    I have a EAA Witness Sport with about 30,000 rds. through it, and it is still very tight and looking good [;)][:D]

    European American Arms is the American importer.

    The guns are manufactured by Tanfoglio in Italy.

    The "Witness" pistols (which is probably what you are asking about) are based on the CZ-75, which are highly regarded, strong, and reliable.

    The Witnesses are reliable.

    The current Witness guns are NOT exact clones. . .most of the parts won't interchange, and there is some internal difference with the firing pin safety design. But overall they are good guns

    Had a TA-90 in the early 90s (full size CZ 75 clone w/ decocker/safe on slide, 18+1 with factory mags). Very accurate and 100% reliable. The original Jerico pistol and the Springfield P-9 are the same guns, though I think the P-9 goes back to the frame mounted safety.

    The EAA Witness (still made by Tanfoglio) is the current version, CZ97b clone. Buy it in a centerfire (45, 10mm, 40, 9, 38 super) and you can convert to any of the other cf calibers or 22lr for $250. I've seen combo set ups on the auction side for $500 that had 45 and 22lr.

    I've just bought a "new used" one, put about 500 (9mm) rounds through it over about the last month and it worked perfectly. I have MecGar magazines, that probably helped.

    I think the line suffers in public image only by a comparison to CZ and because the importers (FIE and now EAA) also import some mid to lower end firearms. I have a CZ 97 and it's my "always loaded" home defense gun, I'd be perfectly happy with a Witness.

    I am going to have to go against the grain. I had a EAA witness in .40 S&W with a built in muzzle brake. The thing was beautiful and I was very excited about it...until I fired it. Couldn't hit plywood. Now someone will say, .40 sw is a poor round...
    The muzzle brake actually worked pretty well. I might give one another try sometime.
