Ruger super bearcat, old model, timing
I picked up a bearcat from 1972. I believe it is off in the timing. To place the hammer in the 3 rd spot for loading the hammer will not stay in place. I pulled the trigger and all parts do not appear wore. The overall gun is in 90% condition. I pulled the schematic and put the parts in the proper place. Any help would be appreciated.

As I remember, the second click is for loading. Try that [;)] 0 -
I pulled out the manual, the 2nd click is considered the 3rd position. No second click, It will click 1 for the safety and the button on the bottom to turn the cylinder is engaged you can pull the hammer back and the button goes into the frame allowing the cylinder to free wheel, the hammer will not lock into position. The next lock is in the full cock position with the button rising out of the frame and locking into position 0 -
Both my early Bearcat and early super Beatcat with the hammer all the way down if you pull back about 1/8 inch you hear a click and the hammer will let the firing pin retract and the hammer stays there if you pull back one more click the cylinder will roll one way but not the other for loading If you pull the hammer back some more you hear a click but the hammer does not lock in this position and then pulling even further another click and the hammer locks at FULL COCK. 0 -
Does the gun have a bar that slides up to the firing pin with the hammer all the way back [?]
If it does juat open the loading gate with the hammer at the second click. It has had the safety recall done.
If you have the right manual, it should tell you that.0 -
The pistol has not had the safety bar updates, the gun does not click in the 3rd position. I removed the hammer, no wear on the notches of the hammer. It acts like a 1st gen colt when the ears on the hammer are wore off. I purchased the pistol used and it was in this condition. I was wondering if you have a certain sequence to installing the parts. Following the schematic ever thing is in the right location. 0
