reloading .452 slugs .45 acp

can a guy load .452 round nose flat point lead slugs for a 45 acp? i was told no. but i did it anyway with a 250 gn slug with 6.0 grns of power pistol am i being stupid? it looks good alittle shorter than a factory round feeds through the gun fine, but cant find any load data for this round so i havnt shot it yet. Any one out there could give me some info? i just want to be safe. not caring about accuracy at this point.

  Alliant says 8.1gr. of Power Pistol with a 230gr. will give you 916fps. Your load should be OK.

  I have run quite a few .452 250gr Hornady XTP through a 1911. They work fine.
