Need help identifying this gun
ok, so today i was going thru some of my brothers stuff, and much to my surprise i found what i thought was a really nice looking shotgun of some sort. it looks like winchester, but i looked only to find no markings exept for the serial #. i tried to research it online but i cant turn up anything because i dont know too much about rifles and shotguns. any help would be greatly appreciated. i included a few pics. oh, btw the serial # is r719547 but i just cant figure it out! (yes thats me holding it LOL)

A little hard to say for sure since your picture is a little small and grainy. Now move that damn gun out of the way so we can get a better look
(OK . . .just joking [;)]).
A bit more seriously, I think MMnambu has it right. It looks like a Mossberg model 500. One clue is that the Mossberg has a sliding safety built into the top of the metallic gun receiver just in front of the pistol grip.
Does yours look something like this?
The one in this picture is a 20 gauge, yours is most likely a 12 gauge as those are most common.
The Mossberg 500 is a highly popular, durable, American-made, and not terribly expensive shotgun. Plain used ones in decent shape run around $250-300.
Yours has a long ribbed barrel, which would make it suitable for hunting birds, or shooting clay targets. The ones made for defensive use (ie against zombies) generally use shorter barrels for better maneuverability.
To clarify a bit, Mm8nambu is saying that if you look on the bottom of the gun, in front of the trigger guard, the manufacturer name should be inscribed there.

@beantownshootah....yes i am convinced now that ive done some comparison using your provided pic of the 20 gauge. since the barrel is quite narrow i agree that it is the 12g. btw, i was using my cheap webcam for these pics only because my digital cam i would normally use was dead. many thanks for your help. ill have to research it.
