EIG 22 question?

I have a german EIG model E15 in 22 cal. I took it out shooting yesterday and noticed it spitting out the side between the barrel and the cylinder. There seems to be too much play in the cylinder.I know very little about revolvers and would like your oponions about repairing it. Thanks Tim

    It was like that when new...Get another revolver....That one could hurt you..imo..

    If I remember correctly, EIG was just another distributor for RG revolvers and your pistol is basically an RG-10. Here is you problem: This is a rather low quality revolver and they simply wear out as you shoot them. The simple fact of life is that your pistol is worth about forty bucks and a gun smith will charge you at least that much just to tinker around with it. The larger RG models had side plates which meant that the internals could be assessed for repair. The lower line guns do not have the same level of parts access and everything has to be removed/replaced internally and basically blind. A gun smith can handle this but you most likely cannot. If you need to purchase more than a few basic parts you will easily exceed the value of the pistol. In my opinion there is no economically viable way to fix your pistol.

    Not to beat up on Gramps, but he did not buy a pistol designed to last. You really cannot fix this type of pistol yourself, they are simply too difficult to work on due to very poor access to he internal parts and were never designed to be repaired; you just shoot them until they wear out and then toss them away. You will have to go to a gun smith for repairs and it is going to cost you more than the pistol is worth to have to repaired. A legitimate 'smith will tell you this and leave it up to you, but even when working correctly these are not good shooting guns. The memory of grandpa will be just as good whether or not the gun is working.
