Hand built AR 15 value

Mr Blurrr
I have a guy wanting to trade me his AR15 M4, with the following:
POF Lower
CTR Stock
Adams Piston Upper
Daniel Defence Rail
he value the rifle at $3,000.00

Any advice?

    Talk about delusional, $3000 for a home build takes the cake. Run out the door with your money, as quick as you can. Next thing you know he's going to give you a sweet deal on the Brooklyn Bridge.

    I'd have to go price the components, but I can't imagine that build is worth nearly half what he's asking.

    If you WANT to spend $3000, go buy yourself a pre-ban Colt, and you'll still have tons of money left over.

    Pal, you can get a DPMS SASS for less than that, and that is an AR-10 chassis in 308. I would not touch that build of his with a proverbial 10 foot pole, for fear he was smoking the same stuff when he built it as he was when he came up with the price.

    Check out some of the stuff on the auction side, and you will see.

    You can buy a NIB piston AR for about half of what he is asking [:0]

    Beantown: I have to disagree with you on this, POF is not cheap nor is the Adams Piston kit. If this guy spent retail on all of this I could see him spending $1500 on this build.
    My rough estimates:
    POF lower $250
    Adams Piston Kit $600-$750
    CTR Stock $100
    Daniel Defense Rail $300+
    I might even be a little low on the lower but your looking at $1250 - $1400 and he's still missing a bunch of parts.

    While I think $3000 would put him in la la land $1500 is not out of the question.

    For that buy a new LWRC! Stay away, build yourself or fund a dealer. Maybe an okay deal with the high end ACOG on it. Maybe.

    I would stay away, I noticed you didn't stay friend but a guy. I would agree not a friend.

    I've built a few AR type rifles including a POF. I think the fellows who hit about $1,500.00 are correct - maybe even a touch generous but not much.

    I would pass on the gun, if you'd like to have a bit of fun tell him you don't know much about ARs and you'd like to accompany him & the gun to a gun store for them to give a ballpark retail value.

    1200-1500 max. I'd shoot it first to see how it works.

    You could buy 1 far far better gun then that one, or two really good guns with three grand..

    Far Far Better, but if you wait on these they will go down a couple houndred.

    I assembled this one for about $750.
