looking to buy a tokarev not sure which ones are the better buy i was thinking maybe romanian not sure about yugo or polish one thing i don't like is that stupid safety they installed to get them over here are there any out there that dosen't have this on the pistol?

    The original Russian and Chinese brings backs, and surplus pistols that were imported prior to 1968, don't have manual safeties.

    Another possibility is the CZ-52 milsurplus pistol. Back when I bought mine I ended up picking the CZ over the tokarev because of fit and function issue. What I don't care for with the CZ is the near vertical grip which isn't even as relaxed as the 1911. But that high velosity 30cal round is a kick to shoot...

    have a cz 52 haven't fired it yet it is kinda of ungainly to hold but it does have that sinister eastern block look to it

    They are still pretty affordable. Buy 1 of each. [;)]
    I believe the Romanian and the Polish use interchangable parts. The Yugo has a longer grip frame and only takes Yugo magazines.

    didn't know that you could interchange parts on the romanian and the polish or the longer mag on the yugo good to know will be trying to buy one of each am really getting into the military surplus firearms now have cz 52 cz 82 looking to buy a cz 70 also have a yugo cervna zastava cz 70 or is it zc 70? i just bought an extra mag for it on gunbroker i thought those mags were extinct

    I have several Chinese, Polish and a suspected Bulgarian.
    Most parts will interchange excluding safeties and fire control assemblies which are individually fitted and may or may not interchange.
    Polish are finished best but all function well.
    I prefer the Polish safety location above the mag catch but it's a trigger block while the oft criticized backward Chinese safety is a sear blocking device; a little safer.
    The safeties with a little work can be made to work smoothly. I'd rather have them than not.
    My non Chinese barrels are not plated and show some light corrosion.
    However, replacement Chinese barrels are chrome plated and fit all pistols.
