    Are the magazines interchangeable between calibers?? (.357 Sig, 9 MM,
    40 S&W). I put 9 MM in a .40 magazine and they stayed put. The .357 is necked down 9 so most of the case is the same size 9 MM.


    I stand corrected on the .357 Sig. I knew it and spaced it.


    Thanks one and all. Will not try to use anything but what is intended for each caliber.

    Yes it can.

    A very small plunger is visible on the front of the mag release button, located down where the frame meets the button.

    The very first step is important - Place a digit over the plunger to capture it because it's a tiny/lightweight item and is under enough spring pressure to launch across a room - after it bounces off your forehead. [;)]

    Depress this plunger with an appropriate size tool and the mag release button will pop up out of the frame.

    You'll now have the plunger, it's spring, the mag release spring and the release button itself out.

    Slide the plate on the opposite side of the frame rearward for removal. If it's a bit tight, tap with a nylon or other nonmarring tool.

    Install this plate on the opposite side of the frame, then reinstall those mag catch components.

    There's one very important point to remember during reassembly - Notice that little retaining plunger has a small 'step' that sticks out on one side. This stepped portion should be oriented downward against the frame so that when it's depressed and the catch button is pushed into the frame this stepped portion enters the hole first.

    Screwing this part up will require a trip back to the factory or a SIG knowledgeable gunsmith to remove it.
