Nope. Primers and percussion caps are explosives. UPS or FedEx only.

The other bad news? Not only UPS or FedEx, but they are HAZMAT. Loaded ammo is not (as long as it is 66lbs or less) but primers by themselves are hazmat.

NEVER use the post office for primers, powder or ammo. US Postal Inspectors have the highest conviction rate of any Federal law enforcement agency.

And the post office wonders why they are broke[|)]...,,Ammo is not a "danger" as they perceive,,,they could make lots of dollars if they would let people mail ammo...But with all the regs,,,they just put themselves out of a lot of cash.

Original question answered. So I'll throw in my 02c on item above..

Postal dept. has always frowned on bulk weighty shipping. Time was when the end-delivery was accomplished by a single letter-carrier on a route. Not good. The Post Office was, and is not meant to warehouse items for pickup.

So, they eliminated it..same as shipping an engine block.. And even prior to GCA'68, the shipping of large, or heavy items or highly flammable, etc. has always been the job of Railway Express.

Postal reg. was 'in place' well before the advent of restriction to the firearms industry. Best, Joe
