Can I send a antique firearm to a Private citizen
I am concerned to send a antique Civil War Musket to an out of state citizen. The musket was a relic it has no hammer and features rust and is in no condition to ever fire again. Can I send this to a private buyer in another state? Do I need to specify that it is a firearm? Any help would be great. Thanks

Yes & no there are no Federal laws against it but some states don't allow. Check with Cabela's web site and see if they ship to state you want to ship to IF they don't then you should not ship there either. 0 -
Pre-1898 manufacture long arms are NOT considered "firearms" by Federal law and can be shipped between private individuals with no paperwork.
There may be individual exceptions in certain States with highly restrictive gun laws, but I can't say I know of any in particular.
With a rusted non-functional civil-war era muzzle-loading antique, you're probably OK just about everywhere.

In addition to the pre 1899 classing, muzzle loading firearms (except for a few that can be readily changed to modern ammo firearms) are considerd antiques under Federal law, even if they were made this morning. An antique is not a firearm, it is an antique. No FFL needed. 0
