CA gun laws

I am a licensed class 6 FFL in NH, I have a customer in CA that wants a Colt black powder revolver, can I ship it direct or do I ship to his dealer using the CA license process?

    Black powder firearms can be shipped directly to CA residents. I would advise that you obtain the usual cover your ass signed statement from the purchaser indicating that he is not prohibited from possessing the firearm.

    Mark ... CYA ..."cover your ass", right? When I think that I see glitches and typos here, it helps me to "fell" right at home "hear" ... I generally find mine after I postm that is the primary reson that people generally find so many edits, to any of my post!

    One way to get the straight skinny on all Kalifornia gun laws is to
    E-mail the Dept. of Justice.
    I was concerned about taking high capasity magazines out of the state & then bringing them back in.
    I was expecting an E-mail reply but instead got a phone call just a couple of days ago.
    In a way I would have preferred the E-mail so I would have a written reply since a verbal responce isn't worth the paper it's not written on. That way I could have also posted the response.
    The bottom line was she said taking the magazines out of the state & returning with them does not violate the laws regarding export or import.
    She also said you do not have to prove you owned them before the cut-off date. It is up to them to prove they are illegal. Note that even if you have a bill of sale it doesn't really prove anything unless the magazines have a serial number.

    So I would advise to just be certain they can't prove they were manufactured or imported after the cut-off date. It might also be wise to not buy them in Arizona or Nevada & then head straight back to the border. It also would help if you could prove you owned a gun that could take the magazines before that time.
