Not sure if you mean HR 1022 "Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act of 2007" which was a real nightmare to gun owners, but didn't go anywhere.

Or HR 2640, otherwise known as "The Veterans Disarmament Act" which was passed into law January 8, 2008.

That would probably be enforced as a going forward and not retroactive type legislation.

The PTSD issue alone is good reason to support advanced mental health care for veterans.

When it comes to extreme behaviors used to end gun rights, it is the most logical thing for people who wish to protect them to do.

I have a thread about it. Such treatment can be developed but it is clear that government does not want us to have that kind of control.

Not trying to be the turd in the punchbowl, but I know of more than 1 veteran who claims PTSD as a means to get some sort benefit he wouldn't otherwise receive.

One of the stupidist things that the federal/state/county/city government jbt police and or jbt military could do is to try and disarm wounded veterans particularly those of us that have suffered ptsd.
I personally would tell them to come and take them if they want them so damn bad, but make no mistake...I guarantee that they will think about it for a while before deciding too and would hopefully not, for their own sake and the sake of the veteran.
I personally do not see what ptsd and firearm ownership have in relation at all; if a veteran decided to do something it would occur and any reaction will be too little too late and disarming them makes no difference at all. We are trained by the government/military to procure what we need, survive damn near anything and exterminate enemy personnel, who those enemy personnel are is quite evident; typical liberal, idealistic, control freak government for you.

I think that was the "Platform" that our former (democrap/liberal) governor "Janet from another planet" Napolitano tried to push after she got appointed to the Homeland security position.

Needless to say we in Arizona were elated to see her relocate and Jan Brewer step up to the plate. Unfortunately Janet did nothing to protect our borders while governor and can be anticipated to do little in her current capacity. [:D] At least nothing positive that is.

Poor Janet Reno. Last I heard of her, she was going downhill with Parkenson's disease. The thanks she got for trying to do a good job in a bad administration ... Karma maybe .. Clinton curse more likely.

I wouldn't insult Reno by getting her confused with Napolitano.

    Good.

This is the same Janet Reno that was at the helm when American men, women and kids were incinerated by government henchmen.

    Karma is a bitch.

Don't know for sure who was at the helm for that fiasco .. Janet Reno stepped up to the plate after the Clinton administration tossed it in her lap and she took the heat and responsibility for everything. She most certainly was a company man ..... so to speak .. She didn't run from it like the rest of the cover-up crowd.

    Yes, Karma is a bitch.

    So is the HR 2640...
    http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h110-2640

Not fair to vets with certain service related problems.

Am I reading your comment right? A Vet diagnoised with PTSD would be the same as a person adjudged to be insane? Anyone remotely connected with the government could be considered nuts (from my personal experience and seeing the decisions they make in the legislative bodies.
