Browning Citori 12 ga. 26" bbl

Hi. I have a Browning Citori 12 ga. 26" bbl that I got about 20 years ago. I am thinking of selling it because I don't use it and it's too nice of a gun to sit in the safe. I see them going on here for anywhere from $600 to over $1200. My question is, how can I tell how much this gun is worth? All I know is it cost around $1000 wholesale from a dealer when I got it 20 years ago.

    It is not a great time of year to be selling shotguns and, recognizing the obvious, the economy in general isn't good either. The range you mention is about right for a 20 year old standard grade Citori. Condition is important. If you sell on the auction side post lots of good pictures. Do you still have the box, extra chokes, etc.? Those will tend to push the price up too. I've seen high grade Brownings in nice shape go for half their retail price this year; two grade VIs are now in my gun safe at the retail price of one. Unless your Citori is in "new in box" condition along with the box and extra chokes you'll be lucky to get more than $800. I'd wait until the economy comes back a bit or at least until the fall bird season gets a little closer if you don't have to sell now.

    I concur on all he said as well as it will be somewhat harder to sell a 26 inch o/u. Fine for hunting, but not as much on the sporting courses, with the exception of skeet. The economy, general mood, off season, and a smaller pool of potential buyers.

    GriswoldPA...I have a Citori exactly as you describe. I got it at an auction ten years ago or so in its Browning hard case, all the chokes, paperwork, and it still had the gunshop tags on it...never been fired! Picked it up for $800, which I thought was a steal at the time. Quite frankly, in this down economic market, if I tried to sell it I would be lucky to get out of it what I paid for it years ago. But it is one fine shotgun that I will never sell so that point is moot with me. Remember, what something is "worth" is what you can get it for at the time. At this time "worth" is very down so my Citori will continue to sit in the gun cabinet waiting on my use! Hope this helps.

    I bought a Citori Sporter with straight English stock and IC/M 26 inch barrels about 2 weeks ago at a local gun store for $799. The condition was 98% or better and the gun looks like new. Now is a great time to buy guns if you can find what you like. This Fall you should be able to sell your Citori for at least what you paid and possibly a bit more. It all depends on the model and of course condition is very important.
