What is it worth?

Found a Colt 1911 GI marked Property US Goverment.

Probably 98% It's absolutely perfect.

They had $1200 on it. Close or not?

    What is a Smith & Wesson model 14, 6 inch barrel in very good to excellent condition worth? Also do you know where I can find a Smith & Wesson model 27 or 28 in 3.5 or 4 inch?

    As soon as I see nearly perfect US Property marked 1911 I am thinking reworked and refinished. We need some photos or a much better description along with the serial number. US marked 98% 1911s that are straight are nearly impossible to find and could be worth three times the amount indicated, or even more if very early. Don't get too excited until you find out more about the pistol.

    Thanks Mark. I just happened to stop by the little shop to see what the daily specials were and came aross this. I'll try to get some more information.
