where would be a good place to send my Mini-14 to make it more accurate? its a good gun but isn't accurate enough, i don't want to spend too much.

Well this is where I went:

    http://www.accuracysystemsinc.com/index.php

I sent in the gun in June 2009 and it was finished Feb 2010. And it isn't cheap - cost my boss about $700.00. But the rifle now shoots 1/2" groups at 100 yds. You may want to give them a call and see what they can do and for how much.

If you have an older Mini with the skinny barrel, as I did, it may be that just switching out the barrel for a new one will work.

sell it and use the money to buy an AR. they are normally very accurate. the worst one i have ever shot was more accurate than my old mini 14

Chief AJ used to make Mini's more accurate. You might try googleing him.

    alaskanman,

"...i don't want to spend too much."

You might help us out by giving us an idea about a range of dollars that you would be comfortable spending on this project.

There are no quick, easy, cheap fixes to what is wrong with the Mini-14, no matter what some will suggest. Bear in mind that the proper fixes will run between $300 to $1,000 depending on the level of craftsmanship you will require.

Based on the purchase price plus the cost of the necessary accurizing, it behooves many folks to just sell this rifle and buy a good rifle instead.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

    Best.

    5mmgunguy,

If you're talking about magazine fed, semi-auto rifles? Yes.

There are a number of good quality AR makers out there these days. The better one for sure is the Armalite but you can shop around for price and reliability if they don't excite you. A custom would be the best choice but at a higher cost for sure.

    Best.

Accuracy systems is your best bet. Will it cost money yeah about the same as a new mini-14, but by dog gone it would be different. Everyone has some type of AR and their brother does to. Personally I like being different and hell it is your money.

If you bed the action and get the gas block changed you would see pretty good improvement but at that point you might as well get a new barrel.
