FFL Q&A
My question was asking if there was a website that gave info on FFL licenses. I don't really remember exactly what I wrote but from the reply below I basically am ruling that out and believe I will just get a C&R license. I still would like a link or a well informative post on requirements to get a FFL license now that Clinton screwed up that for us. I live outside of a city on county land, would I still have to worry about zones and such?
That's ok Mr. Moderator, I'll let it go this time [:o)]

One requirement of having a dealer ffl is that the place of business must be zoned commercial. This eliminates many who want their place ob business to be their home but are zoned residential. Also, local franchise taxes must be paid. 0 -
Thank you for your understanding; I just hit the wrong button and it was gone. Zoning, sales taxes and local licensing issues are now the main sticking point in obtaining an FFL. If you can pass muster on these then you will get a license, but you MUST do some business, otherwise you can expect the FFL to be revoked. Obtaining a dealer FFL for the purposes of enhancing your personal firearms collection or for operating solely at guns shows, are both specifically prohibited under the regulations. 0 -

Once again, it's okay. We all make mistakes. Thank you for that information. I believe that obtaining a store front right now would be difficult. I was also wondering about just gun shows but you cleared that up as well. I will just get the C&R license for now until I can obtain the required for an FFL, unless of course the greatest gun sales man screws up the legalities and laws for the FFLs more then Clinton did.0 -
There are 3,140 counties in the US, & all of them have different zoning requirements. There is no data base that contains information on all of them; you are going to have to research your own county. You will need to find out if home-based businesses are permitted in your county, & how they are restricted. YOU will have to show proof to the ATF agent that a business that you have in mind is permitted in your residence.
There is no definition of "proof". You may need to photocopy pages from your county code or county zoning rules. A letter from the head of zoning may be needed. You have the burden of making a case, the ATF agent doesn't have to prove that you shouldn't have the license.

My home and my shop are located in an unincorporated area, where there is no zoning. The only restrictions have to do with the size a lot can be in a subdivision, septic systems, etc. 0 -

you may want to check your state and local laws along with zoning and special rules. 0 -
