    The old style Browning 'suicide safety,' was a sliding safety set into the front of the trigger guard and protuding inside. was pushed forward to fire and slid back to safe.They weren't really unsafe as much as it wasn't apparent to the novice whether it was on or off. I am not certain as to the date the safety was changed.[img][/img]suicidesafety.jpg

    never knew why they were referred to as suicide safeties. they seem to work well.

    Also worked well on the M1, M14, and Mini 14. Also the Remington 11.

    And the Remington Model 10, the Savages ect...

    The term originated from the early remington model 11 trench guns. The safety was so close to the trigger that in the heat of battle, a soldier would pull and apply the safety, thinking it was the trigger.
