    Todd,

The serial number is way to late (high) to letter. The original factory ledgers end at serial number 379,999. I have not looked at (or recorded) any of the Polishing Room information for the Model 1892 (yet), but it is my understanding that the records are not as complete for the 1892(92)as the records are for the Model 1894(94).

Based on the style of the upper tang stamp, it appears that it is an early to mid 1920 vintage gun though. It is also possible that it has a 2-digit date stamp on the barrel.

As for the value, there is at least one negative issue that hurts it... the stocks have been sanded and refinished. The overall graded condition is less than 10% due to the near complete lack of bluing on the receiver frame and the sanded stocks. The caliber does not help it either. It is near the very bottom-end of the scale, and in my opinion, it is an $800 gun (+/- a small amount).

Thanks Bert, kinda what I was thinking. It going up on the block today based on your input. What does a 2 digit date stamp do to the value if anything?

Nothing... it just identifies when the barrel was made.

Have you tried shooting it? I still take my 25-20 SRC out often and it is still fun to shoot! Sure wish Colt had chambered the Single Action in 25-20 as a companion gun to the Winchester!
