Old Marlin Model 1894 Input Needed.
Heres another I need some schooling on. Its a takedown in 25-20 in very good shape. Whats it worth, When was it made???Will it letter and if so is it worth getting the letter? Thanks.

The available serial number range for Marlin lever-action rifles is 4096-355419 (large gaps exist in range 160000-172500) including the following serial numbers below 4096 286, 673, 1069, 1542, 1774, 1893, 1912, 2020, 2065, 2453, 2475, 2510, 2513, 2977, 2989, 3910, 3925, 3960
Marlin Firearms Co. had only one series of serial numbers for all lever action repeating rifles from 1883-1906.0 -

A couple of serial numbers are referenced in Col. Brophy's book which might help you with a DOM. The first Model 1894 was number 107,678 (7/9/1894), and number 137,123 dates to April 21, 1896.

This is a rifle some what like yours that is going to finish auction soon. Marlin put serial numbers on the stock under the upper tang, the two Marlins I have do not have serial numbers on the forearm yours most likley are the same. If you want to take the magazine off and check yours have fun.
