.35 rem with a 243 magazine

I recently won an auction for the following: Remington 6, 760, 7600 magazines, for 243 / 35 Rem. I was looking for a magazine for .35 rem bullets. When I got the item it says 243 on the magazine. The magazine looks very similar and will fit the gun, but the load slot is a little longer, making me think that this won't work with my gun. Does anyone know if the .35 rem will work with a 243 magazine. I'm trying to get a hold of the seller, but no luck. Thanks

    I believe that it will work. The reason I say "believe" is for two reasons: First I have seen aftermarket magazines that are marked 243,308,6mm,257 Roberts etc...all the same. Second, I have two 760's one in 300Sav. and one in .35Rem. They will BOTH work fine with either magazine...and both have the original magazines. I also believe that you could add the 300 Sav and 35 Rem to the list of ONE magazine working with ALL of these shorter cartridges. The longer cartridge magazines like 30-06, 280 Rem, 270 Win "probably will not work" properly with the shorter cartridges. And the longer cartridges will NOT work at all with the shorter cartridge magazine.

    I have a 760 in .300S and the .243/.308 magazines will not work in it. The mag fits the gun fine, but cartridges won't feed. The .300S
    follower is much different. This seems strange since the .300S is the parent cartridge of the .308.

    I have the 760 in 300 Savage. After seeing many posts from folks looking for the proper (unobtainable) magazine, I made a bisque plaster mold to help adjusting the 243 style metal.

    Just contact me, I have 2 left.

    Usually all short action cartriges work with all short action mag's I know mine do in all my 760's and 7600's. And the 300savage is NOT the parent case for the 308. The 308 is the parent case for the 243,260rem, 7mm08,358win, and a couple others. The 300savage is only the 300savage.

    you may need to make some minor adjustments for best feeding but it should work.

    Thanks everyone, I will be getting my gun back from a repair guy that is putting a scope rail on it. I will try it out and see what happens. I'm just afraid of the thing blowing up in my face. I will just go thru a few without actually shooting it and see if it jams or what. Again thanks for the education. This is the place to turn to when in doubt. [:)]
