Savage 111 in 25-06
Hey all. If you could bear with me yet again please. I buy most of my guns from pawn shops. Most recently I bought a Savage 111 in 25-06 and it has instantly become my favorite gun; trouble is it's left handed and I'm not. Now I've found someone looking for a left handed gun and I'm considering selling it if I can find a right handed replacement locally. I found someone selling a rt handed Savage in 25-06 for about what I'd let this one go for. So my question is-what do I consider? I know there are other models made by Savage that look pretty similar to me. Is the 111 a lower grade gun-because even though it doesn't have the accu trigger-I shoot very well with this rifle opposite handed and all-best of everything I own as a matter of fact. I believe there's the model 10 or 110? maybe-is it equal to or not as goos as what I've got. I own several Savage rifles new and old and am pleased with all of them-but please help me here if you can-I'd hate to let something go that I will regret later. Are all the Savage rifles pretty much the same quality or are there good years and bad years where the factory totally nailed it and then didn't. Not aware of any "bad" Savages. Differences will consist primarily of the trigger change you mentionned, finish and stock style/composition. If the new rifle hasn't been shot out, have a damaged crown, or other damage, you should be happy with it. That said, rifles, Savage or otherwise, are individuals and another might perform better or worse for you. With a Savage, I'd say the odds are in your favor, but no guarantees. Any way you could shoot the new one before closing the deal? 0 -

+1. Savages are excellent DIY projects, i.e., trigger and stock upgrades. For a fair price, you can purchase a wrench and vise, to replace it with pre-fit barrels from http://www.mcgowenbarrel.com/catalog4.htm , http://www.pac-nor.com/prefit/ , and others.

The Savage model 111 replaced the model 110. Does yours have the fiber glass stock?? I have one in 7mm-08 and in left hand. It also does not have the accu trigger. It is not necessarily lower grade it is the standard model Savage makes. By the way I love mine and is very accurate. I've had mine for around 10 years or so and it's never let me down. Put it up here on GB on auction, Id be interested in it. 0 -

The only Savage 110's that still exists is the 110GXP3 and the 110GLPX3 and are available ONLY IN THE PACKAGE DEAL that comes with a 3x9 scope.
They are not made by themeselves.

Congrats and keep us posted. Below is my trusty old Savage 111F in .300 WM topped with Leupold VX-III 3-9x40, RB trigger set @ 1.5 lbs, and a Holland's QD brake. Antelope was taken last year at 338 yards (*) with 178gr Hornady A-Max factory load.
