    looking for a ak-47 for under $500.00.what would be a good one to get...

    I would say the Norinco "Chinese" made AKs. I have them and have had some Euro made AKs and I think the Norincos are better. But everyone has their own opinion. It would be best to find a gun shop or friend that have AKs and handle and shoot them. What is best for me is not always best for you. I think whatever you buy you will enjoy shooting it and you will probably never wear it out..... good luck!

    Any of them that are not buba buildups or all beat up. The AK is legendary because it is not a picky weapon. Now if you want one that holds 4" at 100yds with iron sights that may be another thing all together.

    Might be a hair above your budget but www.k-var.com is selling Arsenal Russian Saiga's that are factory converted to standard high capacity configuration. I believe they run $550 to $580.

    Probably the best deal out there for a high quality AK.

    All the Chinese/Norinco AK's that I've seen lately have sold for well north of 600 bucks. We currently are getting a pretty good selection of Romarm (Romanian)/CAI AKs in the shop, with a variety of stock options and the least expensive ($440) is the standard WASR-10 in military config. - slant muzzle deflector, bayonet lug, laminated fore/top grips and butt stock - come with bayonett, leather sling, oil bottle, two mags (one Tapco polymer), double mag. pouch and instruction manual. Haven't had any complaints from the couple dozen customers who have bought these. We are getting in a couple WASR-10s with plastic fore furniture and side folding stocks with out the accessory kits that will sell for $399.

    China steel is in fact "crap", the very notion that they can make an AK of any good quality kind of says something about the design. I'd go with a... you know they're all assembled the same kind of way. For $500.00 look in the SHOT GUN NEWS you'll find a Romanian less than that and pay for a FFL transfer from a local dealer. I'd go with a Romanian under-folder. All AKs have problems maintaining Zero at different range distances from where their zeroed in. Realistically AKs are supposed to be a cheap spray combat weapons that can be purchased for less than $75 any place else other than in the USA. WASR10's have excessive mag wobble due to lack of receiver dimples(using a tight fitting mag release will eventually shoot loose as apposed to tight receiver dimples with a tight mag release) WASER10 styles are marked by welded plates in the mag well and are with out dimples. Look to buy one with tight mag well dimples and look for straight fire control group pin holes. Only buy steel mags because plastic looking ones seem to hold the rounds deeper in the mag and may cause feed issues as they sure seem to. Best of luck to you.

    Are the wasr-10s for 399 on GB.what is the difference in the wasr-10s high cap.and the ones that dont say that...wont they all shoot a 30 round clip?

    The WASR10 is for a single column mag usually. It's ground/cut by hand for a double column mag that eventually contributes to mag wobble. Having a tight mag hold/release will eventually cause more wobble outside of the absence of receiver dimples.

    Save your money and don't buy a romy or china model they are junk.Try to find a used Arsenal peffer a Bulgarian but a Russian will due. They are put together with the good stuff and thourly tested.Triggers barrels,folding stalks and varyious musselbrakes.In the long run you will save money.

    Yep! Love Bulgarian models! But seems based on my experience Romanian steal is harder at least on their top dust cover.
