Stainless Speed Six Value

Had this revolver for at least 15 years took in on a trade.

Stainless Speed Six .357 with about a 3" barrel. Pachmayr Presentaion finger groove grips with a Ruger logo.

I was told this was a special model dedicated to US Post Master or something like that?

Anyone Know?

    Value depends upon condition, configuration, accessories, & EXACT barrel length. Click on the Smart Search link on the GB home page & look at COMPLETED auctions for similar guns.

    Anything you were told about the gun when you bought it will not increase the value.

    The previous poster was correct: The Speed Six model made for and issued to, the USPS has an actual 3" barrel as opposed to the 2 3/4" bbl on the standard 357 model and they do fetch a premium price. My best guess is that a standard 357 Speed Six in excellent condition would bring $350-$500 and the USPS version $800-$1000. Ironically, the USPS version was sold via mail order outfits like RSR around 15+ years ago for less than $200.

    Hey...Thanks fella's. I started scrounging through some of my storage and found the box with the manual. Sure enough manual has Ruger catalog number of GS33-PS and USPS Inspector logo on it. Forward in the manual dated 3/15/1987 indictaes that this will be standard issue for Postal Inspection Service. Signed by C.R. Clauson
