Colt Python Finish
[?] I bought a Colt Python on Gun Broker. The seller listed it with having an ultra bright stainless finish. I'm no gun expert but I believe it has a nickel finish.
How do I determine what finish it has ? The serial number is 87048E. If it is the nickel finish is it worth the $1800.00 that I paid for it ? It is in mint conditon, not a mark on it.
I'm new to buying guns on line and I could use some help. What should I do ? Keep it ? Return it ? I have not contacted the seller or left any feedback yet.
Thank you in advance.

Your Python was manufactured in 1978. The polished stainless was not introduced until later (1983), so it should be nickel plated. If it is new condition in the factory box with owners manual etc, in my opinion, $1800 would still be a little much but the values on these continue to rise. Without the extras, too much and misrepresented. While you might be successful recovering the purchase price, you may be out the shipping, transfer fees etc, depending on how the auction was listed and the sellers demeanor. 0 -
Maybe a visual will help. The top gun is stainless, the other 2 are nickel.
