Interarms Mark X 30.06

I just bought an Interarms Mark X 30.06 in perfect (unfired) condition. Serial number is 2340042. Can you tell me the date of manufacture and any other details? Thank you.

    I had an Interarms 30-06 and it was a nice but plain rifle. They are made by Howa and sometimes sold under that name and others. I can't tell you about date of manufacture. I think they also made some Vanguard rifles for Weatherby but I can't swear to that.

    The Interarms Mark 10 is not a Howa . It is a Mauser action made in Eastern Europe somewhere !

    Made in England or Yugoslavia,,,Imported through Alexandria, VA. Excellent quality rifles for the money, bar none...

    The Interarms Mk X is a modern rendition of the Mauser M98. Interarms was the Importer of record for that contract. The rifles themselves were manufactured in Yugoslavia by Zastava Arms which is still in business.

    The next importer of the same action/rifle was Charles Daly. They were summarily beat out in a new contract negotiation by Remington, of all companies. Remington proceeded to screw the whole business up and now we're waiting for their contract to expire so some else can pick up the importation.

    As to a date of manufacture, it's hard to say. I'm not sure there is a list or reference without contacting Zastava.

    This same rifle was also imported by Herter's years ago. It was known as a J-9.

    ....Oh....that was probably a hurtful thing to say about Remington.

    In all seriousness, I have one that I dropped into a stock and it shot about MOA with my own handloads. Very nice rifles once you get them worn in. The newer Remington imported rifles (made by Zastava still) could use a little wearing in/smoothing, but otherwise are excellent in the quality in respect to the metal. The wood laminated stock of course was provided by Remington. And it could use a little help in the looks department. But it is functional.
