Browning 1910/1955 sights
Just got one of these little guns in .380 and took it straightaway to the range. It shoots great but the miniature sights are near useless, making it take way too long to aim. Any suggestions on where I can find replacement sights that won't cost too much? As usual, thanks in advance.

It was made for use as a personal protection "pocket pistol". You might try contacting the customer service folks at Brownells. Doubtful you would be able to get anything to fit though, as the rear dovetail is probably cut for a metric dimension.
They made a version with adjustable sights during the late 60's early 70's time frame. It was called, I believe the 10/70 or something similar? Had one years ago, it was a super quality pistol but the size and large adjustable sights took it out of the pocket pistol category.0 -

Neat little pistols, well made and handy, but you are basically out of luck replacing the sights unless you can get a gun smith to fabricate something for you. The pistol the snowman mentioned was called either the FN 10/71 or the Browning .380 (depending on it's markings) and had an adjustable rear sight which allowed to to be imported as a "target pistol". This new design was probably one of the absolute ugliest FN/Browning's ever offered for sale, making the so called Old Model (the Model 1900) look like a beauty queen! If you can find the rear sight from the 10/71 it will fit your pistol, but the sight is HUGE and will absolutely overpower your little automatic.0 -
Thanks for the help. Does anyone have advice on sight coatings such as Bright Sights? From what I've read I can't tell if those are useful. 0 -

The only thing that has helped me at all, vis a vis the sights on these pocket pistols. Is to paint the front sight only with neon orange acrylic paint. You can buy a 2 oz plastic bottle at Wall Mart for less then 4 dollars. I'm still using a bottle that I bought years ago. You apply it with a tooth pick. It's really helped me shooting these pistols with diminutive sights.0 -
after the 1968 gun control act browning made the same pistol with Adjustable sights[^][:D] and thumb rest grips . These pistols were IN MY opinion almost target grade . I shot one in the centerfire stage of a 2700 match indoors at the gallery course 50 feet. shot a 848 on a very hard target 0
