Price of Ammo Dropping?

OK, is it my imagination or is the price of ammo finally starting to come down? The price of Winchester and Remington stuff seems to still be elevated, especially their premium hunting and self-defense rounds, but I'm seeing some of the more generic stuff selling for much more reasonable prices than a year or so ago. Is this the start of a downward pricing trend and would a fella be well advised to hold off before buying a large lot, if possible? Or, is this just a figment of my imagination or a solitary blip on the radar?

    In my neck -o-the woods shelves at almost all my fav stores are still bare but nationally in the magazines a glut of import ammo seems to have dipped the prices...Wet and wild ORygun

    I thought it was but Wally World just raised the price of 100 round bricks of 40S&W from $20.97 to $27.97. They also raised the price of most 50 round boxes of 9MM and 40S&W by $2.00. .223 went up by $4.oo.

    I don't think its your imagination.

    Price of 7.62x39 has been steadily dropping over the last six months, and different sorts of pistol ammo that were barely available are now available (if not common). .223 that was virtually unavailable 8 months ago, is now available again.

    .380 is still in short supply. Whenever any of the online retailers get some, its gets snapped right up.

    I don't really think things are going to get a lot better in terms of pricing, though a little bit more easing is possible. I just think supply is going to improve slowly over the next year to bring us back to pre-Obama levels.

    I had no problem finding powder at two of the local stores and one of the gun shops shelves were full of ammo. I am sure going to stock up on primers and powder if the price slips.

    Problem is that everyone is sitting on cheap ammo (target) mostly for their shelf.

    I forsaw the uptrend and stocked up, but was an idot when it came to buying some of the better stuff.

    I had a model 27 baby Glock and had to have a 357 SIG barrel for it. I bought a couple of boxes of the good ammo for it, but now even 357 SIG target target ammo is way up there and it is loaded weak (no fun to shoot).

    I've been thinking about buying a couple of boxes of the Hornady Critical Defense in a few calibers for carry, if I can get a deal on it.

    I think if you see something good you should grab it. Can't see things going back to normal.

    If you see a sale and they are out of stock see if there is a raincheck (or two) or backorder OK, do it. A lot of those rain checks are good for quite a while. Kinda nice to walk in and plop down a 9mm 1000 round rain check for $6 a box.

    If ammo is dropping,it sure isn't bricks of .22's.
    I AM glad to at least be able to buy them again,in variety,but would like to see it for less than the local price of 16.90 and up..up to 22.00 for Blazers.

    Local price going from 22.00 to 28.00 for a brick and still hit and miss to find them

    At Wallyworld up in NE Pa. the price for 22 LR has gone from $14.97 to $18.97 for Federal 550 bulk pack. 9MM Winchester was $21.97 for 100 round bulk pack now its $14.97 for 50 rounds. I do have to say that lately they do have some popular calibers on hand where before they had none. They always have a ton of 223. At Cabelas they advertise a low price in the sales brochure but never have it and substitute a lower grade and their online prices are a dollar cheaper but they bang you on the shipping.

    Yes for most calibers. .45 is still holding price but availability is better.

    At the Tampa gun show last weekend Georgia arms had the following ammo pricing with plenty of availability.

    500 rounds of 230 gr .45 for $200.
    500 rounds of 55 gr .223 for $180
    50 rounds of .380 for $20.50
    500 rounds of .40 for $140
