Price on AR-15

Was wanting to know a fair selling price for this gun. Manufacturer is Gunsmoke Enterprise. Has a Trijicon Acog scope, adjustable stock.

    Trijicon Acog is worth more than the gun. Post Pic's please.

    A true (not a china/japanese made Trijicon) Acog is worth $1200 in NIB condition. That is starting at the bottom end model.

    Everybody makes an AR rifle today. I don't know enough about Gunsmoke Enterprise to make an evaluation.

    The scope is $400-$500 new. You can probably get $300 for that for sure.

    The big thing with an AR is mostly what parts are in it. If it's firing correctly and accurately and has good name brand parts then that will help us give you a closer value. If it's a Colt that will add a couple hundred $$. Just because they are known quality (I think there are better) and they are the 'original'. Big name builders come up too, i.e. Novieske, Les Baer, etc.

    Also, the configuration and barrel material. What extras come along with it. SS barrel, M4 config, Overwatch w/such&such barrel.

    Pics would help a lot.

    I got off on a tangent yesterday and didn't explain myself better. I was just explaining why some AR-15's are worth more than others.

    Gunsmoke Enterprises isn't a well known name of a builder as I described above. Therefore, you won't get the benefit of a big name builder adding dollar value to your rifle. However, if you look at the individual pieces you may see who put their names on what. The upper, the barrel, the lower, the buttstock all may be different manufacturers. Those of themselves may add value to the rifle. If the rifle works as intended, doesn't unnecessarily jam, catch on itself or anything like that then you've got about a $500-$600 rifle. With the used scope it would be worth $900. If you had a magpul buttstock you could add some money depending on which model. Also, if you have a premium barrel, upper, or lower. Or better yet, Gunsmoke assembled a well known makers parts kit. That would add a few hundred. But without any of that information you have a basic configured AR-15 that has no added value.

    Not sure I ever heard on gunsmoke enterprise...not a big name I have heard of.

    Well, here's a bottom-end NIB ACOG for $950, and the same price is available at multiple online vendors:

    Cost of a used one is going to depend on condition, but its probably not going to be LESS than $500-600. . .

    SO LONG AS ITS A REAL ACOG, AND NOT ONE OF THE COMMON $50-100 NEAR-JUNK FAKES THAT ARE LABELLED "TRIJICON ACOG".

    *Any* good condition functional AR-15 built from non-junk parts is going to be worth $500-600 in this market, even if its on a non-name receiver and even if the upper is low-end. Obviously the better the parts and build, the more it will be worth. A high quality brand name upper by itself could be worth $750+ depending on barrel, sights, configuration, etc.

    So, without further information on EXACTLY what's in this gun, its impossible to give a good price estimate. If its all junk with a fake AGOG, maybe as little as $600. If its got a real ACOG in like new condition and a super-premium upper upper, it could be worth $1800 or even more.


    EDIT:
    Whynot, you're on the right track with that picture, which shows a standard carry handle upper and a collapsible stock, but the picture isn't detailed enough to determine the make of the upper.

    Try getting closeups, in GOOD LIGHTING, of the markings on the rifle's upper.

    You'll also have to do that on the sight to verify that its a real ACOG, and not a worthless knockoff. (Note that if the sight lights up by itself in the dark, its probably real. . .I don't think the cheapo $100 fakes actually contain tritium inserts).

    As the retail price is $795 for them you can knock off about $200 for a used gun. As far as the Acog goes, as stated we need to know if it a Trijicon or knock off, as they sell for about $60[xx(]
