New Plumcrazy lowers- any good?

I do know there was seller on another auction site that was offering the complete PlumCrazy lower for about $99, and was ripping off the buyers. He was just banned from the other site, but may be doing business elsewhere, other names. Be careful. Seller was from a Western State.

Tried to do some research on the PC products- not a lot- leaves me really doubtful as to whether these are a properly engineered synthetic lower, or an injection molding of the dimensions of a metal lower. I think I would wait a bit on these.

I'd say that in THEORY, there is no reason a polymer/composite type AR-15 receiver couldn't work, especially if it were beefed up in the right places. Doesn't Cavalry arms offer one?

But build and materials quality on it would be everything.

Personally, I wouldn't trust this maker, whom I've never heard of, with no known industry backing, to build a good receiver. Perhaps he can. . .if so, time will tell.

The name. . ."Plumcrazy". . .not inspiring me with a lot of confidence that this is a solid professional enterprise. Maybe a receiver like this could be a good basis for a .22LR build which is exposed to low stress/low pressures. For $100. . .that might be a reasonable gamble.

I also wouldn't trust ANY guarantee this guy has. Lets say the gun blows up. Does he have assets to cover your losses, or does he just dissolve his company? Lets say the gun receiver simply cracks or the fire control group fails. What good is his guarantee when his company goes belly up in 1-2 years?

Hmmmm= ya know. I have some nice, 3 yr old walnut, with a real nice grain. Wonder if you could mill a receiver out of that?

If the maker's work is as good as his math, you should probably take a bye on this for now.

The ad says:

I just bought one ..on the advice of a friend who has put many rounds through his build with NO problems,,,I am going to get an upper and see what shakes. Granted the name doesn't bold well for a selling point,,but if mine works like my friends,,it won't be a seller anyway/

I've got 5 of the PC lowers, one of which I've been shooting for 1 1/2 years w/o problems. The first one is built with a milspec parts kit and the others are full carbon fiber/synthetic (except springs/pins). The second one has been fired 100 rounds +/- just to test the synthetic fire control parts. It seems no better or worse than all metal but I'm still doubtful. I have some extra milspec trigger,hammer,disconnector parts for total replacement in case I see inordinate wear. With that said, I was doubtful about the old Rem. Nylon 66 when first encountered. A bajillion rounds later, I'm no longer doubting it's longevity.
The mag wells seem to be tight which does cause some mags to stick. I suppose that could be sanded out or try different mags. The bolt lock is also somewhat sticky until worn in so may not lock open ater the last shot with some mags(mostly old ones with weak springs).

Uninformed opinions, not backed by any experience, have no place in the analysis of a product. Casting aspersions about a manufacturer or product without experience is not fitting for this forum.

We've had two complete rifle built on PC lowers for over a year which we use for testing and some competitions. I have two that I built for personal rifles to test and I've never experienced a problem.
