Scope mounts for remington r15

I just purchased a Remington R15 for shooting coyotes and purchased a Nikon coyote special scope. This is my first weapon with the Picatinny rail onit. What do I need besides the Weaver rings to mount the scope on the gun? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    You NEED nothing else.

    Now depending on how your scope's eye relief or how high you scope needs to set may change that.

    You will most likely need at least medium rings. If not high ones. Or you can use standard rings and a riser.

    On one of mine I was able to get enough distance between the scope and my eye so I bought an extended rail.

    The R-15 is just a regular old AR so an AR mounts will work.

    Weavers may or may not work. With that scope you are going to need a lot of eye relief. Without looking it up, the eye relief is in the 3.7 to 4 inch range. This means your going to need to mount the scope farther forward then some scopes. You won't be able to do this with just rings. Your going to need some type of rail extension and rings or a scope mount that puts the scope farther forward.

    Depending on how much you want to spend and how high you want the scope to sit you have many many options available to you.

    If you really want to go expensive, Larue tactical makes a forward mount that is nice.

    I have a YHM extension topped with a set of medium height burris rings and it works out well. I wish I would have went with the GG & G extension though.

    There are a lot of nice rings made for pitcanny rails out there if you want to spend the extra dough.

    Just my preference, but you may want to try a one piece mount. Lots out there to choose from. The advantage is that you can switch scopes by unscrewing the thing as one unit, a disadvantage might be that your fore & aft scope placement may be limited.

    I have some angled rings on my AR to fix that problem for me (I guess I could have gotten a scope with better relief) It helps my scope sit forward just a little bit. They're pretty nice to have for smaller shooters too. I got some for my mom to put on her .243 and that helped her a lot. I think several companies make these, but I just picked them up at the gun counter at the local Wal-Mart or hardware store. It's all I've needed for my AR, no problems.

    I'm with Fletcher, A 1 piece mount is the way to go.

    This is a good mount, all the marketing bull aside..

    Midway lists camo riser blocks & camo rings to match the same camo patern as the scope & and rifle .Im too cheeeeep to go that way.
