Was a Winchester Barrel made by Blue Sky Arlington Va. original on a WWII M1? I cant find that info in my book. Thanks

Blue Sky was a well known importer of M1 rifles during the late 1980s, mostly from Korea, and not a government production facility. 0 -

if the blue sky is stamped on barrel in large print look for possible deformation to barrel if it is the tiny print stamp OK 0 -
Blue Sky did NOT make barrels. They were importers of rifles coming back into the USA and our Govt required they stamp the guns. 0 -
WW2 M1 rifle Winchester barrels were not marked "Winchester". Please let us know how you identified the barrel as having been made by Winchester.

Blue Sky was famous for frequently stamping barrels so heavily that the bores were deformed. I would have it checked out by a gunsmith.

Yes, it is a Winchester barrel mark with a W with that stamp heavily stamped in. So is that and original WWII gun or a later production? Does it make it more or less valuable. From my understanding it has all Winchester parts including the receiver. It also has a M2 selector. Has a blued round bolt Bore on the W marked barrel is clean and shiny Barrel is marked blue sky arlington Va. Ser #5685098 seems that most parts are marked W.

Collectors consider the [Blue Sky, in this case] import stamp as a defacement to a firearm. Less valuable.
All parts confirmed Winchester? That's a plus (after the paragraph above has been factored in).
M2 Selector? On the rifle? Operational? If yes, then you have a machinegun. Unless you have the correct NFA paperwork, installed M2 parts that would render the rifle select-fire is a felony. You can remove the parts to return the gun to legal status. Read paragraph below:
Now, check the receiver. If it's marked U.S. Carbine Cal.30 M1 on top of the breech, you're good to go after you remove the M2 parts. If it's marked M1 with a '2' overstrike, or simply U.S. Carbine Cal.30 M2, then there's nothing you can do to render the gun legal.0 -

Through Gunbroker: Buyer will want NFA paperwork.
Taking it to a gunshop: Same as above.
Through street sale: Big unknown..as authorities will eventually knock on your door, due to the fact that the person in posession spills to the cops whom he got it from.
This is a worst case scenario..as this firearm may, or may not be illegal (see my post further up this string). Best, Joe0 -
Sounds like an unregistered M2 carbine to me, and that is trouble that we don't want or need on these boards. 0
