Original Ortgies/ what is the value?

I have an old Ortgies 7.65mm. It has the HO medallion and also states "Ortgies & Co- Erfurt" and Ortgies' Patent on the slide. It has a serial number of 9778. I believe this is one of the older Ortgies guns. Can someone give me a value on this gun? It is in 90%-92% condition. It has an old holster which is in 50% condition. I would also like to know if anyone can tell me what year this particular gun was made.

    DOM most likely early 20's. Way things are nowadays in the gun world money wise, $100-$250, IMHO.

    Ouch.... the newer versions are selling for more than that...???? What nowadays in the gun world money wise are you talking about? I know the demand for guns and ammo far exceed the current supply... I know that more people are holding onto their guns which put less out onto the market... I know that this gun would actually work well as a small carry...???. Now I'm nore confused than I was before/ help!!

    Put it on the auction with a 1 Cent starting price, see what you get for it. That will answer your question, if you don't like my answer.

    They are rather common pistols and the .32 is the most common of them all. Yours is an earlier version but that does not amount to a huge premium, although it will be more desirable than the later DW marked pistols. I love Ortgies and own lots of them and I'd agree with rufe-snow that a 90% example would probably be in the $200 range at the most. A holster in 50% condition depends entirely on what holster it is. There were countless German commercial holster produced back then and most are not worth much money brand new, much less is 50% condition. The big gun and ammo shortage brought on by total panic over the Election of Obama is long over and there is now a glut of guns and ammo on the market. If people are holding back their guns it is only because the gun market is soft, and since buyers are all broke, sellers can't get much money. While Ortgies were once the most popular small automatic on the market for concealed carry, those days ended well before the start of WWII and they are more of a curiosity these days than a viable self defence pistol.


    By the way, you asked for expert advice and member rufe-snow is an expert in the field of small European automatic pistols. We don't do debates here. If you don't like the free advice you receive from our boards then you are free to move along and go elsewhere.

    If you can get four bills for a 90% Ortgies then I am surprised you took time out to ask a single question, you should have been all over it the very second the offer was made!
