Whatever Gun or round is chosen for self-defence,become familiar with it.
Make it a priority to practice offten.
For it's NOT the gun or round that is used,it's the person behind it.

    If it were all about the training (rather than the round) then why don't cops carry .22s?

    The way I look at this, with a calm skilled operator and good shot placement, a .22 *could* be plenty.

    The problem is, in the real world, its not easy to get perfect shot placement when you may have only split seconds to draw your gun and take a shot, when the adrenaline is pumping, when you may not have time or a clear view to get a good sight picture, etc.

    The target may be moving, standing sideways, or their arm or something else may get in the way.

    So having more power in your cartridge is a way to help tilt the odds in your favor when shot placement isn't ideal.
