6.5 creedmore

have read some intiresting articles on it in a few magazines and was wondering if anyone ehre had some first hand knowledge on the round. is it really that much better then a 308? hows it compair to a 243?

    Was wondering if anyone had any info or advice about this round from personal experience, i've read most of the info online already.. just thought i'd get some real world opinions

    Where are you finding brass for the creedmoor at? i haven't been able to locate any instock, a buddy of mine has ordered a creedmoor upper for his ar and i've been do some research for it, looking for loads and components, bullets are no issue i know that because i shoot a .264 win mag. I think it's gonna make a nice shooting rifle in an ar, but had it been me i'd have opted for a bolt gun to get the most out of the accuracy of this cartridge

    I have a Ruger 77V in 6.5 Creedmoor and although I haven't done alot of shooting with it yet it seems to be a very accurate round. There are quite a few very good .264 diameter bullets available, low recoil and easily available brass. I don't know that the Creedmoor does anything the 260, 6.5X47 or 6.5-284 won't do. I have plenty of Remington 700s & 40Xs also, but I just happened to like to Ruger 77V line of rifles - have a 223, 25.06 and 308 in addition to the 6.5.

    The 6.5 Creedmore is a great round, but remember, if it is chambered in an AR, it has to be the AR-10 platform, not the AR-15. Basically they increased the case diameter slightly, and shortened the case a bit, so the longer VLD bullets could be used in the magazine. Other than that, it will not do anything the 260 Remington will, except create headaches on where to find brass. The brass is proprietary, and only made by Hornady as far as I know. If you want to get about the same performance in an AR-15, you have the 6.5 Heaton(6.5 version of the WSSM case).

    I shoot with a guy up north who had one built specifically in a bolt gun. He did that so when he hands the gun off to his kid He won't have to reload. The guy is an avid reloader but his kid (kinda like mine) is averse to the pleasures of "rolling your own."

    Anyhow, the performance of the rifle is very good. Slightly behind what a couple guys who reload for the .260 Rem are getting. But certainly ahead of factory .260 ammo. Factory Creedmoor (Hornady) also does better in his rifle than factory .260 Rem. Remington should get one of those Sportscenter (ESPN) "C'MON MAN!" awards.

    Correct. Getting the brass wasn't too difficult nor expensive compared to some of the other wonderful stuff I shoot, but finding dies was a pain. I loaded my first hundred rounds or so with a Hornady zip spindle neck sizer die for a 260 Remington and seated with a 6.5X47 Lapua die. Took about a month for the Hornady dies to arrive from Creedmoor Sports - who, BTW, are nice folks to deal with.
