Stoeger sxs nonfire

Have 2 friends with Stoeger Uplander single trigger sxs's & both have a similar problem. The right barrel only causes a slight dent in the primer. After the misfire & the barrels have been opened it will fire fine untill reloaded & the the same sequence starts again. Any help? One is a 20ga & the other is a 12ga.

    Repair diagnosis on a sxs is accomplished by removing the stock usually with a long tang thru bolt under the butt plate. Maybe a second or third screw in the wrist area of stock. This will expose the trigger/sear/spring mechanism area. If possible (not always due to design) cock the sxs then remove the barrels and place a small block of wood against the breech face. Dry fire and inspect for firing pin indentation in the wood. If this reveals no fault next Prime up some EMPTY shells. If you have no loader you can buy primed only cases. Load the gun with PRIMED ONLY shells and point in a SAFE direction, even a primer is HAZARDOUS. And function fire the sxs watching for hammers (internal) coming back completely when cocked or strike blows dampened by loose or maladjusted parts. Firing pins turning and thus binding. Watch for shells case being seated too deep into the chambers causing excessive distance for the firing pin to travel.Each time inspect primer for depth of firing pin strike. keep this up with newly primed shells till you discover the fault. On a sigle selective trigger you may have to fire each barrel first and observe and come to conclusion as to fault. Then get back here and we will elect some sort of repair option.
    A sxs with a single trigger often times relies on inertia to cock or allow the trigger to move to second sear. Also a single trigger sxs has a selector to allow which barrel to fire first. Both of these designs could be at fault. A sxs with a single trigger requires usually a well made proven design (as opposed to two triggers) of considerable cost.
    Bet you are doin cowboy action shootin? See you would be dead in the real west....external hammers, two triggers..live on!

    Thanks for the info. They are using these for trap & bird hunting. Seems funny they will misfire almost everytime when reloaded but fire first time when reopened after the misfire. They can't change the firing order on them,& it's always the RH barrel. I will pass this along to them.
