H&R Revolvers - Black or Modern Ammo

Are the old H&R revolvers with barrel stamp "patent 1895" and "Worcester" suitable for modern ammo, or are they black powder only?

  some are, most aren't. check the left side of the barrel. if the caliber is marked there it is smkeless if not it is for black powder only. H&R made the switch in 1905 and started marking the left side of the barrel with the caliber at the same time.
  
  h&r didn't move out of worcester until about 1971.
