Stock Dents
Just purchased a rifle but it has a few small dents in stock. It is possible to remove them by using a wet cloth and ironing the cloth over the dents. I have been told that this will remove the dents and not damage the finish of the stock. Is this true?

It depends on the finish. If it's a Remington with the plastic stuff they use, don't use heat. 0 -
If you haven't done it before do it slowly & carefully. It can work even better if you use a steam iron. You just want to be careful not to sear the wood. 0 -

MANY coats, many THIN, coats, THOROUGHLY dried between application, of your preferred finish. That, "live with it", or?????

Yes you can steam dents out as long as the wood fibers are not broken, it does require removing the finish. This is easiest done with an oil finish becuse you can just remove the finish around the "wound". If your finish is not oil, then you will probobly need to strip the entire stock or you will never get it matched back up.
once the finish is removed place a wet wash cloth on the dent and let it soak in for a few minutes, then place the iron over the dent for 15 seconds and check and rewet cloth and repeat until the dent is out, you may have to give it a light sanding to get it completely flat. good Luck.0
