The Model 1917 receivers are marked Remington, Winchester, or Eddystone. The P14's have 2 or 3 letters on them. What's the translation?

  what calabers can a p14 be changed to i know it needs to be a rimed or a belted case (i wood like to be a rimed case) need it to fit the mag box

  WRA = Winchester
  
  RE = Remington Arms

  rufe-snow: You response confirms my impression, however, I read somewhere that, on 1917's, Winchester and Eddystone milled a large cavity in the receiver bridge under the rear sight spring whereas Remington did not. I have a couple of Remington 1917's and they do not have that cavity. I have only one P14: it's an RE and it has that cavity. Do you believe that Remington milled that cavity in the P14's and then quit doing it when they started the 1917's? Or, is it possible we have the Remingtons and Eddystones mixed up? (I have a book around here, someplace, on the 1917, if I could find it!)
