reblue ?
taking my first stab at reblueing a gun using oxpho-blue. It was going pretty good until I tried the trigger assembly.It won't take the blueing at all, does anybody have any ideas tips or hints?

Sounds as if it is a different metal then the rest of the gun. It may not take a bluing. What was the original finish ?
Ensure all grease and oil are removed and warm the metal. If it won't take any bluing at all, it's probably an alloy that you are going to be unable to blue.
I would suggest either polishing it out and leaving it bright polish or look into one of the coatings like Duracoat or such that will cover the metal.

It was bright but other guns of the same model are blued, Win. model 50. I'm sure it is a different alloy but there must be a way to do it. 0 -
Spraay on black lacquer from Brownells, then in the oven for 1/2 hour. Trigger guard is probably some sort of aluminum alloy. 0 -
I personally am against re-blueing any firearm. I like the original finish regardless of the look. If there is excessive rust or pitting, just take lite wool pads and rub it till clean. 0 -
I use brownells oxpro-blue for most of my blueing projects. As a rule of thumb if a magnet will not stick to the item then it will not blue. Difficult steel small parts that don't take the blueing evenly I will at times place in a pot of boiling water (with a small amount of dish soap) for a minute or so to heat them up and then apply the agent. Next I rinse in tap water, spray with wd-40 and let sit overnight. I generally get a very good matte blue out of the process. 0
