Clipped my Chrony
Finally happened this morning. Didn't kill it, just flicked off one of the wires holding the glare shields. I usually only use it when shooting from the bench but lots easier to just set it at the corner of the yard and send 5 through it. Had gloves on and one went a little too far left. OOOOOPPPPPSSS!!!!!

Replace the wires with those thin bamboo cooking skewers. A whole bag of them is next to nothing. BTW, you can also cut wide strips out of milk jugs to replace the sky shields - and they even work better! 0 -
Remember that there are 2 kinds of chronograph, those that have been shot, and those that haven't been shot yet 0 -

I agree, I have both kinds. [:0][:I][:D]0 -
My reloading mentor is bringing his to the range Saturday for me to shoot.....ahhhhh, I mean shoot through![:0]
I have never used one before. I hope he brings extra parts!0 -
Not to long ago I was talking to my dad and he said he had ordered him a new crony, I asked why and thats when he siad the .460 S&W broke it [:)] I almost think he did it on purpose just so he could get a better one. 0 -
Don't know what you shot your chrono with but mine got shot with a 458 Winchester mag...destroyed it! 0 -
Ditto on the wooden dowels or skewers. Bullet hits them, usually no problem. Hit the steel, even several inches away from the body, and you can destroy it. Changed mine out last year after another smart Forum denisen suggested it. Wish I could credit him by name. 0 -
I use the thin plastic straws for mixed drinks on my Chony. I've hit quite a few of them, but that gives me a reason to restock. 0 -
1/8th inch wooden dowel rod works. I clipped mine but only marred it slightly. Remember the flight path of the bullet is 4.2 inches below the line of sight when you're bench resting a Bushmaster Bulpup. 0 -
Fragments also damage the unit.
After shooting out several displays, I made a faceplate from 1/4"Lexan to cover the end of the chronograph.
It's now scarred but does the job.0
