Don Hume JIT...

Been looking at getting one of these instead of a FOBUS. They look like they use a passive retention system around the trigger guard. What I was wondering is, are they a PITA to get the gun out of like the FOBUS?

    Not once they are broke in. The best way we found is to spray the inside with auto silicone and either leave the gun in for a couple days or just work it in and out. The silicone won't hurt thr gun or take the stiffness from the holster. It lets it stretch.

    No pita. Tension will depend on how much curve is in your belt at the holster's location. I have used one for my Ruger P95 and it works fine. As with almost any of this type, it will stretch quicker than a full body type. My first one has about reached that point. If I was in the business of running and jumping while using it, I would have to replace it now. Biggest downside is exposure of the pistol to seatbelt attack. I'd really rather have the muzzle somewhat protected. Upside is it doesn't look much like a holster w/o the gun in it. If you have to leave your pistol in the car, there's no need to remove the JIT from your belt. I always keep a full size holster in the gap between the seat and console to stick my pistol in while inside a no carry area. Keeps it clean, protected, and meets useless holstered/cased storage regs.

    never tried a fobus but do have several jit slides for the pistols and revolvers that are constantly on my belts. never a pia presenting from any of them, very pleased with don hume products. check out their belts too, you'll never buy another!

    JIT are very nice holsters and easy to use. I have two of them.

    You can loosen the retaining screw on a Fobus to make the gun easier to draw.

    That said, I've never been a fan of Fobus (nor plastic holsters in general). In my opinion they're OK for the range, but I wouldn't trust my life to one.

    Get the Don Hume instead.

    Note that a belt-slide type holster leaves a lot of gun exposed. Some people like this. . .some don't. If you like the style, you could do a lot worse.
