VIET-NAM SKS BRING-BACK 1968

OK, I finally got my computer to work with me long enough to upload several pictures from an SKS I recently obtained. This is a "bring-back" from 1968 and has a variety of documentation which supports the serial number of the firearm. On the paperwork, the U.S. Inspector considered the gun a Russian make. I assume they saw the star and immediately thought "Russian"...anyway, this is a North Viet Nam SKS. Other than that, everthing matches on this firearm. All numbers are correct and for the era/period this item is from, it's in great shape.

Anyway, I thought I would share this piece of history. I really don't know if I'll keep it or put it on the auction block. I have been told (without pictures) what the value of this item may/should bring, but I am open to opinions.

THERE IS A NUMBER 1 INSIDE OF THE STAR ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RECEIVER, WHICH I HAVE BEEN TOLD IS "TYPICAL" FOR NORTH VIETNAM.

    I belive it is a Russian SKS. Value is another thing. I have not kept up with it. It looks to be in fair condition.

    Hopefully the pictures have transferred to this forum. As a response to DCS, I was only told that this is probably a North Vietnam rifle because of the single star on the left side of the receiver. There is no Tula star on the top of the dust cover, which would typically be for the Russian variation.

    Let me know what ya'll think. Thanks for the opinions I always receive on the forum, they are always helpful & informative.

    I owned a North Vietnamese SKS years ago, without knowing what it was. I only found out that it was actually made in North Vietnam, because of a short article in the American Rifleman magazine. According to the article SKS's were only made their for a short period in the mid 60's. The serial numbers were very distinctive, as the first two digits of the serial number were the year of manufacture.

    Interesting piece. More valuable with the documentation and historical data. Little rough on the stock. However it adds to the story behind it. To certain collectors may have good value. Not qualified to give a estimate here.
