  MrsKraklin, The knowledgeable guys on here would need pictures to help you out. Is it a pistol? Rifle?
  
  You can also Google Navy Arms and possibly find a Customer Service number to call. They no longer are in New Jersey.
  
  Navy Arms marketed a bunch of blackpowder pistols and rifles but not so many now judging from the internet Navy Arms site.
