Opinions on the latest Win M70?

I have a chance to buy a new in the box M70 super grade with really nice wood at a great price; I have a prewar M70 as well as one from the 1980's..I realize that the quality of these rifles has been up and down (mainly) since 1964. The latest one made by FN in the USA looks pretty decent at first glance. The trigger is great and the woodwork is very well done; at least a lot better than my M70 from the 1980's (the factory used hot glue to bed the action). Any opinions on the latest M70? thanks

I would appreciate any opinions.

    The featherweight lists at $799 and the Super Grade for about 1050-1200. I'm asking for opinions because I'm offered a super grade with nice wood as a trade which will cost me less than $700 and I need a deer rifle. Thanks.

    Chuck Hawks gave the new Model 70 an award of some kind. I believe it is mentioned on the Winchester website, and it is probably mentioned on Chuck Hawks' website.

    I have heard good reports about the FNH made rifles. They may be guaranteed for 1 MOA I seem to recall.

    I have only seen a handfull of the new Model 70's, and while their tolerences might have improved from state of the art CNC, their wood to steel fit and finnish suck. JMHO.

    I do know what you mean about the post 64's being sporatic on quality, and have fixed several of them, including my own Model 70 Ultimate Shadow SS in 25 WSSM. I will not part with that rifle for anything.

    IMHO, I would take the 700.oo and put it towards the purchase of a nice pre64 model 70. Thats my opinion for what its worth.
