Eyepatch

Does anyone know where I can get a shooting eyepatch for my daughter who is having trouble shutting just one eye to shoot?

    Don't know about the patch, though a pharmacy might be a good place to start. Also might be worth considering having her learn to shoot with both eyes open. Many advantages.

    All my years in the Marines I shot with one eye closed, it was the way they taught us. Just a couple of years ago went shooting with a freind and he suggested I shot with both open. With at least pistol it helped to close up my groups.

    Hello Do not put a patch on her eye You need light entering both eyes . Check with Champions Choice www.champchoice.com ask Homer to sell you a BLINDER like Bulls-eye shooters use this can be mounted on glasses frame or Bill of her hat you can also use a small piece of Scotch magic mending tape on the other lens of her SHOOTING glasses . She is using eye and hearing protection RIGHT.

    Toadbrown, which eye is her dominant eye? Is it the same side she prefers to shoot from? If her right eye is dominant and she shoots right-handed or vice versa,(left-left), she will benefit from shooting with both eyes open. If she shoots from the right shoulder and has a dominant left eye (or vice versa(again)) she should practice/learn to shoot from the dominant eye side. You might have to see an opthalmalogist too figger out what is best to do.

    I've fought such problems forever and can tell all kinds of tales about this problem but it would take all night.

    I also have the problem of being right handed but left-eye dominant, and I've tried a variety of things to address this (but that's the subject of another post).

    Eye patch is overkill. You want your daughter to look like a pirate?

    Best/easiest solution is just to put a piece of translucent tape (ordinary scotch tape works fine) over the center of the lens of the non-dominant eye shooting glasses. You don't even have to cover the entire lens, just the center part.

    This lets the shooter keep both eyes open to have depth of field and retain some peripheral vision.
