To Hand Prime or Not..................
I still reload on my RCBS press that I bought in 1974. The RC press has the auto prime feature with the tube fed primers. I'm not sure I like the feel when some of the primers are seated. How many of my fellow reloaders think the auto prime feed tube is OK, and how many think I should invest in a hand primer tool? Which hand priming tool works the best? Thanks for all of your help!!!

I much prefer to hand prime. I use two Lee Auto-Primes, one set up for large and the other for small primers. 0 -
I like to hand prime also. I just use the regular RCBS hand priming tool. Since I have all the shell holders, I didn't see the need to get the universal one. 0 -
I agree. I use a couple of hand primers. I like the "feel" of them. I use RCBS. 0 -
Is anyone familiar with the Lee Auto Prime II ? I have had mine since the 80s and it works great . I'm not sure if they are still available . I have mine on a little Lee open frame press and have primed 1000s of cases with it . 0 -
When I loaded with my Dad those many, many years ago, I really liked the Lee Auto-Prime.
I still use one when I do my Rifle Rounds one at a time.
But, On My Dillon SDB, there is a distinct "Feel", or good feedback, so I don't miss the Auto-Prime.0 -
I hand prime everything.Either with a LEE or Forster. 0 -
I use two Lee hand primers for most, except with my Two Dillon SDB'S 0 -

9460 - AUTO PRIMING TOOL
I love this priming tool from RCBS .0 -
thanks 375, couldn't have said it better. If a person is willing to prime as a seperate operation, the RCBS tool is the way to go. Also very good as you get older and arthritis sets in. I've used one for 30 years and wouldnt do it any other way. 0 -
I have them all and the Lee AutoPrime II is the best for function and feel. 0 -
Thanks for all the help. I have a follow upquestion that I would like you guys to help with.............. 0 -
I've worn out 2 Lee tools; both of them repaired/replaced at no charge by Lee. I'm now using a Hornady hand tool which I find more comfortable than the Lee. 0 -
I use RCBS ...
... and it works great!

I've used 2; "Lee Auto Prime Hand Priming Tool" & "RCBS Universal Hand Priming Tool."($12.99 & $49.99 from MIDWAYUSA) I'm partial to the RCBS, but the Lee works great also... especially when I sucker my buddy into lending me some time on a weekend. 0
