I much prefer to hand prime. I use two Lee Auto-Primes, one set up for large and the other for small primers.

I like to hand prime also. I just use the regular RCBS hand priming tool. Since I have all the shell holders, I didn't see the need to get the universal one.

I agree. I use a couple of hand primers. I like the "feel" of them. I use RCBS.

Is anyone familiar with the Lee Auto Prime II ? I have had mine since the 80s and it works great . I'm not sure if they are still available . I have mine on a little Lee open frame press and have primed 1000s of cases with it .

When I loaded with my Dad those many, many years ago, I really liked the Lee Auto-Prime.

I still use one when I do my Rifle Rounds one at a time.

But, On My Dillon SDB, there is a distinct "Feel", or good feedback, so I don't miss the Auto-Prime.

thanks 375, couldn't have said it better. If a person is willing to prime as a seperate operation, the RCBS tool is the way to go. Also very good as you get older and arthritis sets in. I've used one for 30 years and wouldnt do it any other way.

I've worn out 2 Lee tools; both of them repaired/replaced at no charge by Lee. I'm now using a Hornady hand tool which I find more comfortable than the Lee.

I've used 2; "Lee Auto Prime Hand Priming Tool" & "RCBS Universal Hand Priming Tool."($12.99 & $49.99 from MIDWAYUSA) I'm partial to the RCBS, but the Lee works great also... especially when I sucker my buddy into lending me some time on a weekend.
