    this is most likely a model 1908 manufactured before 1921. this early single barrel was not marked with a model name or number but the use of patent dstes ended about this time. and it is known that alot of this model used an A letter code to denote a standard size frame.

    This Model was made available to the Mail-Order Trade as a Brand Name Shotgun Deduct 25 %
    VALUE: 100%=$195 60%=$55 the 24 and 28 Gauges are Worth a 25% Premium

    be sure and check the chambering as the standard chambering at that time was 2 1/s. the 2 3/4 chamber did not come along until 1921.

    Thanks for all that info. Ours is probably 2nd variation as it is 2 3/4" chamber and the hinge pin is removable.

    if the hinge pin is remaovable then it is the earlier model 1900. the patent date you mentioned were used on both models. the A letter code in the serial number most likely means it was made in or around 1916 as i ive not seen it on another model 1900.
