Just bought a Colt 1911 from an estate. Serial number is 569788. Looks really good. Only has a little wear on the high spots, end of barrell, etc. Doesn't look like it's been reworked. I gave $1000 for it. Hope I didn't get taken Any help? 0 -
Hello If this is a Military model marked U.S. Property then year is 1918 Pristine condition worries me Could you post picture If all original finish and original parts it is BIG $$ but if refinished to like new condition with worn parts replaced MUCH less and if REFINISHED by someone other then Military just a shooter $500.00 look at top few post "STICKY" on how to post pictures we need pictures from about 6inches away in focus and well lit . Inspection MARKS are what is important.
editHello this question will lock after 10 post and you have used 3 of them just go to the pencil icon and it will let you edit your post this will save the post count . The pictures show a FUZZY outline of a pistol but no where near clear enough to tell much Look on down below your post from yesterday on question on RIGBY rifle this shows the kind of pictures we need . What I think I can see is a 1911 pistol that has been refinished and has plastic grips . it looks to be parkerized MATE Grey finish not Black polisher Blued Finish . If this is correct then at Best it is a military refinished gun with MOST of the original parts That is why we need close-up in focus pictures of all the inspector marks they will be on the frame near the magazine release The proper barrel will have a letter H and another letter P on the barrel that you can read looking at the part of barrel you can see through the ejection port. At worst this gun was refinished by persons unknown and is a $500.00 shooter. IF IT FUNCTIONS. many pistols have been built from cheap aftermarket parts and may have fire control problems "unsafe to use" Feel free to double click on my name and send me personal email and I will send pictures of an original 1911 pistol made in 1918 to show correct finish finish.0 -
Here are two pix. The spots on the grips are light reflections. the grips look brand new as does the gun. It is stamped "U.S. Property" and "Model of 1911 U.S. Army" Can't figure out how to add pix. 0 -
